Hike Information

Join us for a hike through the Laura Hare Nature Preserve at Downey Hill trail—a scenic 6-mile loop ranging from moderate to rugged terrain. We'll take a breather at the halfway mark to delve into backpacking tents, using camp stoves, and discussing water filtering methods on the trail. Your guide will showcase the gear she uses and answer your gear-related questions. Don't worry if backpacking gear isn’t your top priority; this trail is perfect for exploring with a fantastic group of women. Let’s learn and explore together! Maintained by the Sycamore Land Trust, the Laura Hare Nature Preserve at Downey Hill trail was completed by the Hoosier Hikers Council in 2017. Please consider a donation to the Sycamore Land Trust or become a volunteer: https://sycamorelandtrust.org/about/ Directions: From the intersection of SR 46 and SR 135/Van Buren St in Nashville, drive east on SR 46 toward Gnaw Bone for 5.5 miles until you reach Valley Branch Rd. Turn right on Valley Branch and drive 1.5 miles. Turn left into a small gravel parking lot. Parking is limited so we encourage carpooling when possible. Recommended Gear: • Trekking poles • At least 1 liter of water • Snacks
