Do you identify as a woman, 18 years of age or older, and are interested in learning and building confidence while backpacking? Then this is the expedition for you. We are excited to offer this Intro to Backpacking overnight hike to help you build confidence and learn techniques for enjoying the outdoors responsibly. Signup before April 1st and get a free Hoosier Adventure Supply Company t-shirt and mug the day of the hike! Expedition details: This expedition includes hiking and camping one night in the backcountry. We’ll cover backpacking basics like how to filter water, cooking, bathroom etiquette in the woods, plant identification, Leave No Trace principles and much more! We call our hikes “Expeditions” because no matter the length or time of year, they will be epic and an amazing good time! What's included: Zoom call with registrants two weeks before the hike. Your guides (Laura and Tracy) will answer any burning questions and chat through any last minute details. This call will be recorded and shared as a resource and for anyone that cannot attend. Open line of communication via email to ask one-off questions from the time you register up to the event date. Dinner on the first day and breakfast provided the following morning of the hike. Some snacks will be available but registrants should plan to bring their favorite hiking snacks. Gear rental available on a first come first serve basis. We have a limited supply of used backpacks, tents, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, and cookware available for an additional fee. Please contact Laura ( if interested in gear rental. A recommended gear list will be provided if you’d like to purchase your own gear or use what you already own. Hike is rain or shine. No refunds due to weather unless the conditions are extreme. About the Trail: The Low Gap Trail, winding through Morgan-Monroe State Forest in Indiana, spans 10 miles of enchanting natural beauty. It leads hikers through a diverse landscape of dense woodlands, rolling hills, and occasional steep climbs, offering a mix of challenges and scenic rewards. The trail's varying terrain keeps the adventure engaging, with rocky stretches, stream crossings, and breathtaking vistas that showcase the forest's seasonal transformations, from vibrant spring wildflowers to the rich hues of autumn.
