Allie is a musician specializing in old time, bluegrass, and folk music. She has played guitar since age 14 and since then has also learned “enough to be dangerous” on banjo, mandolin, fiddle, ukulele, harmonica, and upright bass.
A native of Bartholomew County, Allie was a founding member of Indiana’s own The Whipstitch Sallies (2010-2016) before moving to western North Carolina to study, perform, and teach old time & bluegrass music.
She became a mom in 2020 and moved back to the Hoosier state to raise her son and make her children’s album Sing and Play All Day.
Her next record, Bloom Again, is a solo project showcasing her singing and multi-instrumentalism. Get a signed copy at Jamming in the Woods!
Join Allie at “Jamming in the Woods” – A Women’s Weekend in Nature and Song 🍃
Allie Jean is teaming up with Hoosier Adventure Expeditions for a one-of-a-kind retreat: Jamming in the Woods Women’s Weekend, May 23–25, 2025, at the scenic Gnaw Bone Camp in Brown County, Indiana.
Designed for women of all musical skill levels, this retreat offers a supportive, relaxed atmosphere to build confidence, collaborate, and grow through music. Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to sharpen your jamming chops, Allie will lead workshops focused on essential skills like playing in a jam circle, understanding fiddle tunes, and developing rhythm and timing. There will even be a flatfooting basics workshop and guided hikes through the gorgeous springtime woods.
With rustic shared cabin accommodations, communal meals, and an uplifting community vibe, this weekend promises to be a soulful blend of nature, learning, and song.
